Into the Blue

BBlue. I am surrounded by blue. Depth, freshness, energy.

Water and its minerals. My eyes are open. I breathe, deeply, with my nose down to my navel.

My heart and mind are open, just like my
San Francisco.
BLUE
I am finally here,
I can find my calm.

I always come in a rush through Golden Gate Park riding my wonderful bicycle, to watch the sunset. The ascents and descents, the cable car passing by, the Union Square skyscrapers. Then, I arrive at the ocean, and looking back I see the low hanging sun illuminating the skyline.

A light breeze blows through my hair. I look at the ocean, I look at the bay. It’s huge and it protects me, makes me breathe. San Francisco is this: urban, vibrant, and vital, surrounded by water and nature. A place of the soul. My gaze extends to the rugged coastline. San Francisco is this: the city of the ocean and freedom.

I am here.
Right here.

The ocean is not only the color blue, it’s the sound of the waves, wind, seagulls. The air that I breathe with full lungs. It’s the sun setting on the sea, the colors of the rainbow. It’s the boundless beach. The light and shade of the waves shake its surface: foaming blue, bright blue, mineral blue. Turquoise, cobalt, cornflower blue. Smooth, reflective, translucent like the surface of a bottle. Blue is not only the color of the ocean: blue is also that surfboard there, the bucket of those fishermen there on the beach, full of crabs. Blue is the spirit that has brought me here. I turn around and enjoy a breath of crisp ocean air: a group of young people, over there, is lighting a fire. I observe them. They are laughing out loud, bursting with sweeping energy. There are so many of them, others are joining. What are they doing? I close my eyes... the breeze strokes me, saltiness gets into my breath. I try to imagine why they are there. Right! Today it’s the day of the sea, Ocean day.

One of them walks up to me and asks, smiling:

“Hey you, why are you here? Would you like to join us in celebrating the ocean’s birthday?”

Someone unrolls beach mats, someone stirs the fire. Someone else plays some music. The atmosphere is surprising: an unexpected party, with the ocean in the background. All around us, just blue. Blue is the spirit that connects us: perfectly tuned in, ready to toast and start the party. Blue is the flavor of the air: crisp, just like the ocean. And that of the water: regenerating just like its minerals. Blue is our wavelength.

Vibrant,
just like the ocean breeze.
Crystal clear,
just like the color of our glasses.

Blue is all our senses: facing the blue, waiting for the sunset. And it’s the time to enjoy the moment.
