Campari Canada is pleased to announce they are bringing the internationally acclaimed and historic Dante NYC to Vancouver’s Homer St. Café and Bar for a memorable take-over experience.
The NYC-meets-YVR pop-up, titled Campari Presents Dante NYC at Homer St., will be open to the public November 1-5, from 6-10 pm. This special collaborative engagement will feature a seasonal menu of Dante NYC inspired specialties paired with aperitivo-style drinks such as the world’s fastest-growing cocktail, the Aperol Spritz, and the Classic Negroni served “on tap” from a fountain creating a veritable waterfall.
“It’s impossible to celebrate the world’s best bars or the world’s most iconic cocktails, without including Campari. It’s simply a staple that every great bar around the world serves. Therefore, it made perfect sense for us to partner with a globally recognized bar experience such as Dante,” says Priya Shah, Brand Manager of Campari Canada. “To be able to work with our friends at Homer St. to bring the Dante experience to Canada for the first time ever, is in many ways the perfect embodiment of the Campari brand. We are quite excited to showcase some incredible Campari cocktails in Dante’s signature cocktail menu!”
Caffe Dante first opened in 1915 to honour the simplicity of great food and drink. Linden Pride and partners took over in 2015 renaming Caffe Dante to Dante NYC. Dante NYC has since become one of the most renowned bars worldwide; winning the #1 ranking in the 2019 World’s Best 50 Bars Awards last week in London, U.K., and honoured as 2019 “World’s Best Bar” by Tales of the Cocktail Spirited Awards. As Dante NYC was awarded “Best Negroni” in NYC by New York Magazine and “America’s Best Negroni” by Punchdrink, Campari, the irreplaceable spirit in the Negroni, was the natural partner to bring New York’s best to Vancouver for a one-week pop-up experience.
"We are honored to partner with the acclaimed Homer St. institution in Vancouver as our first take-over in Canada," says Linden Pride, Co-Owner of Dante. "We strive to deliver a truly special and innovative experience around the world and look forward to introducing our food and drink in collaboration with Campari to the friends and family of Homer St."
Naren Young, Dante NYC Beverage Director and internationally acclaimed mixologist, will join Homer St. staff to lend his expertise throughout the duration of the pop-up and provide opportunities for guests to mingle with one of the world’s leading authorities on all things cocktail.
“We’re excited to host Campari Presents Dante NYC at Homer St. to bring a little New York flavour to the West Coast” says JS Dupuis, Beverage Manager at Homer St. Café and Bar and Georgia Straight’s “Bartender of the Year” for 2019. “It’s also a thrill for our talented staff to get to work with one of the world’s most storied and acclaimed institutions.”
The limited engagement will take place nightly, November 1-5, at Homer St. Café and Bar, (898 Homer Street, Vancouver, BC.) from 6-10pm. Reservations and walk-ins welcomed (opentable.ca or call 604-428-4299).

About Homer St. Café and Bar:
Housed in two of Vancouver’s most iconic buildings, Homer St Cafe and Bar is a contemporary restaurant set in the historic Homer Building and new Beasley building in Vancouver’s Yaletown district. Classic comfort cooking takes centre stage thanks to a fire engine red rotisserie that roasts all manner of proteins. It’s chicken that’s the star here: served in quarter, half or whole portions, accompanied by classic sides basted in jus. A decidedly adventurous wine and cocktail list rounds out the menu. The restaurant features two spaces that consist of an open concept kitchen “Chef’s Bar” where one can get up close and personal with the culinary team, a private dining room with reclaimed factory windows, and bespoke seating complemented by antique tiling.
Rich in local history, the building has seen several reincarnations. It was at times a dye works, a steam cleaner, and an ice delivery shop. In 1952, the Smithe Coffee Bar opened, later known as the Homer Cafe, a local dining landmark. The restoration of the building’s original windows, grand staircase, signature domed roofs and metal clad cornice and exterior was completed in 2010.
